DREAMSCAPES marks a gentle but deliberate evolution in my practice. The organic forms I paint are now freed from everyday contexts and settings to instead become rhythmic amalgams of beauty. Seashells, flowers and plants remain long-standing subjects in my work, but they now drift and merge in dreamlike compositions that invite a more curious encounter with the natural world.
While the depiction of each object remains honest and true to life, their scale, placement, and orientation have become unreal. Drawn to the quiet charm of a spiralling seashell or a velvet-soft orchid, I began releasing subjects from their natural settings. This pursuit of beauty gave way to compositions shaped more from imagination than real life. Unbound from the laws of nature, these dreamlike scenes became liberated and surreal, presenting a lingering sense of wonder.
At its core, my watercolour practice explores our connection to beauty. I seek to reframe beautiful subjects from their expected image as a way into something more visceral and deeply felt; as enmeshed with our own consciousness as a dream. This body of work reveres nature and the innate human desire to find wonder in the world that has shaped us all.
